ARTICLES OF FAITH
Communication: We believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe that the Holy Spirit superintended the human authors of Scripture so that they composed and recorded without error God’s revelation to man (2 Peter 1:21). The Bible is the supreme and final authority in all matters of belief and behavior (Jude 3).
Creator: We believe in one true God (Deuteronomy 6:4), forever existing in three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).
Creation: We believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six, literal, twenty-four hour days (Genesis 1:1-31) and that man was created in the image of God by a special act of God Himself (Genesis 1:26; 2:7). As a result, the dignity of human life, the basis of gender roles, and the sanctity of marriage were all established by God Himself (Genesis 1:26; 2:7, 23-24).
Corruption: We believe that Adam knowingly violated God’s command (Genesis 3:1-7). As a result, humanity is subject to physical death (Romans 5:12). Each person is conceived with a sinful human nature (Psalms 51:5), is spiritually dead before God (Ephesians 2:1-3), and commits acts of sin (Romans 3:23). The ultimate result of sin is eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:15).
Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God (John 8:58) and fully man (John 1:14), having been miraculously conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35). He is the promised Messiah of Israel (Matthew 16:16).
Cross: We believe that Jesus Christ died in our place for our sins and rose again from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-8). We believe that faith alone in Christ alone is the only way of salvation (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9), and that those who are truly saved are eternally secure (John 10:27-29). We believe that spiritual maturity is the life of Christ (Galatians 2:20) reproduced in the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16) in response to the Word of God (John 17:17), prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and the edifying influence of the local church (Ephesians 4:7-16).
Church: We believe that membership in a local church should be restricted to those who have a credible testimony of saving faith, who have been baptized by immersion (Acts 2:41-42) and who agree with the biblically-based doctrinal statement of our church (Ephesians 4:4-6). The church has been commissioned to share our faith both locally and around the world (Matt. 28:19-20) and build itself up in Christ-likeness of character and service (Ephesians 4:7-16).
Consummation: We believe in the imminent return of Christ for His church at the rapture (Titus 2:11-14) and that all church-age believers will then be examined at the Judgment Seat of Christ and rewarded for faithfulness (2 Corinthians 5:10). After a seven-year period of tribulation (Revelation 5:1-18:24), Christ will return to earth at His Second Coming to inaugurate the kingdom promised to Israel (Ezekiel 37:21-28). This kingdom will last for one thousand years (Revelation 20:1-6). At the Great White Throne judgment the unsaved dead will be resurrected, judged by Jesus Christ, and cast into the lake of fire where they will experience conscious, eternal torment (Revelation 20:11-15). All the saved will then experience the joy of eternal life in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-22:21).
